This is a spring-loaded kinetic device that launches metal spheres. It is made through CNC machining and manual machining. This project served as my machine shop certification.
For the Piggy Pendulum Clock, I designed it using CAD modeling techniques in Fusion 360 and AutoCAD. I calculated the center of mass to optimize mechanical performance and fabricated the components from acrylic using a CO2 laser cutter. I used a drill press to manufacture precision holes for the assembly, resulting in an escapement mechanism that achieves one full rotation every 10 seconds. To verify the clock's accuracy, I conducted a comparative mechanical analysis which showed a 15% error margin for point mass analysis and a 17% error margin for rigid body analysis.Â
