About Me
About Me
My name is Carly, and I am a Mechanical Design Engineer with hands-on experience in design, fabrication, testing, and validation of electromechanical systems. This portfolio documents my engineering work across design, research, analysis, and manufacturing.
I am the co-inventor of KangaArm, a mechanical arm assisting preterm infants with mechanical breathing. I was responsible for the vibration-isolation component of the project, achieving 86% vibration attenuation. The project was selected for patent consideration by the UC San Diego Technology Transfer Office. I also served as Co-Lead of the Steering and Human-Submarine Integration Team for UC San Diego's Human Powered Submarine — leading a cross-functional team through the full engineering lifecycle of a competition submarine, from mechanical design through open-water testing.
I am particularly drawn to the iterative design process — from mathematical modeling and simulation through to functional prototypes built and tested under real-world constraints.
Currently seeking entry-level mechanical, automation, or controls engineering roles. Open to relocation.
